You Are Aborting out now

Our new 3-track CDr is now available from RHP or us. Limited quantities, so act fast. The show we played last Saturday at RHPs event in Leamington Spa was excellent, thanks to all.

New Plurals Bandcamp based shop

If you want to get releases directly from us, those ones available can be acquired from the shop things we just established. Check it out. Alternatively you can always pick things up at gigs too. Other releases we don’t personally have copies of have now got links to somewhere that still stocks them, in most cases the record label.

Thanks.

11th May 2013: Some news and things

Plurals will be headlining an unofficial counterpart to Leamington Spa Peace Festival. After Peace Comes Doom is being held at Althorpe Studios and Gallery, Althorpe Street, Leamington Spa, and features performances from other visionaries of noise, drone and experimental music. Only £2 entry. Oh and it’s our album launch show for as as yet untitled CDr on RHP, who are promoting the event. https://www.facebook.com/events/244815528991651/?fref=ts

The two other releases in the works (12” on Oaken Palace and CDr on Sheepscar Light Industrial) are coming together. For the former we are donating all profits to The Bumblebee Conservation Trust. http://bumblebeeconservation.org

We have been invited to do a session on IC Radio on May 23rd, and and interview too I think. It should be weird fun. http://quark.icradio.com

I guess, for now, that’s it.

20.Jul.2012: Headline show at Powerlunches, Dalston, London, March 27th

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ll be playing at the great venue Powerlunches in Dalston soon. March 27th. Support from Stereocilia and Tidal. Perhaps we’ll have copies of new releases there too. To remind you, forthcoming is our Latitudes Session (CD/12”), a release on Oaken Palace (12”) and CDrs on RHP and Sheepscar Light Industrial.

2013 initial activity

I guess a bit of action plan sharing might be necessary / useful / self-congratulating. The first months of 2013 shall see Plurals doing the following: recording for the 12” coming out on Oaken Palace Records, a CDr on [RHP] and a compilation track for ConSouling Sounds; playing at Splitting The Atom in Hastings on February 16th and hopefully a / some show(s) in the midlands, one or two in Brighton; perhaps finally having our Latitudes Session (with Aidan Baker) released. If all this happens as planned we will go ‘this is good’, because it will be. Lynx:

Next Plurals show in Portsmouth, October 6th

Here is what they say:

“Champagne Justice! Southsea’s newest, sexiest night of music and debauchery continues…

We’re talking bands, DJs and cheap booze, sweetheart. We’re talking about a fucking good time. Three quid on the door, what more can you ask for on an Autumn Saturday in Southsea? Oh, and the effervescent Colin Wakefield (Tatty Seaside Town/Edgeworld Records) will be selling some bonafide bombastic records, too.

After the raucous, drum-laden frenetic fury of Sly & The Family Drone, the raw power of Battery Hens and th

e psychedelic powerhouse band that is the Demons, we return with two of Southsea’s finest: Watashi Calcutecs and Protein Window. Furthermore, we introduce to you the almighty Plurals. It’s gonna be a fucking wipeout!

///Protein Window///

http://proteinwindow.bandcamp.com/

The first Protein Window set demolished the crowd with it’s heavy intensity and now Portsmouth’s favourite Sheriff returns with a full blown band posse and a painfully brutal amp stack. Witness a new set to kick you up in the air and watch you drop. Warm shoegaze’y licks rupture into a heavy grunge bath combating lo-fi trip-hop on its way. One dirty rust trip.

///Plurals///

http://plurals-drone.tumblr.com/

Plurals are Daniel Mackenzie (aka Ekca Liena), Duncan Harrison, Dave Hamilton Smith (aka Me With Others), Michael Neaves (of One Man Team dance) who together form an expansive ambient drone / noise group. Multi-layered keyboards, guitars, vocals and more come together in pieces that cover lush ambience, dark and sinister noise and tripped out psychedelics.

///Watashi Calcutecs///

http://watashicalcutecs.net/
http://soundcloud.com/watashicalcutecs

Portsmouth young bloods. Comparisons to The Mars Volta have been made. However, while Cedric and co. gently stroke their egos to the point of abandon, Watashi Calcutecs are furiously banging out an electric combination of post-punk, metal and no wave pop.”

28.Aug.2012: Supernormal was totally brilliant

Please take the following very seriously: Supernormal Festival was and is a profoundly affecting alternative music and art experience. I can’t speak for the whole of Plurals when I say the weekend was a genuinely soul enriching, brain rewiring exercise, but shades of that idea, I’m sure, grace their feelings too, even if very slightly. I seriously suggest that everyone considers going next year because if it’s anything like the weekend that unfolded with such charm a couple of weeks ago, something utopian and free will rise again.

Personal musical highlights include the bands Rameses and Sweet Williams, noise fuckers Petals and Scotch Bonnet, poet Gary Goodman with Nick Hudson’s twinkling sonic backdrop and a lovely Oliveros vocal exercise headed by Kev Nickells. There is more, but things are hazy at best. Essentially everything in the barn area.

The other highlights are so breezy and hippified I almost don’t want to say, but fuck it, I’m breezy and hippified: wandering in the woodland under stars or dappled sunlight, sailing through the fresh air on the swing amongst the trees, amazing sense of community, creativity blossoming everywhere without force, hedonism mixing with profound, nourishing relaxation.

For a much better report please visit Gary Goodman’s website for a poetic rundown of everything that made it magical: http://garygoodman.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/supernormal/

20.Jul.2012: We’re playing Nozstock festival

Plurals have kindly been asked to play this festival next weekend (July 28th at 6pm we’re on apparently) - very last minute but there you go. Check it out. If you like The Proclaimers, The Futureheads, a fairly nostalgic drum and bass lineup AND psychedelic drone then a) congratulations on your eclecticism and b) you should come.

Next up of course is Supernormal, August 10th - 12th which is simply going to be amazing. Ticket purchasing is highly recommended to avoid missing out.
